Implementation Rules for Language Studies in the School of International Education

In accordance with the policies set by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and the realities of the School of International Education, we have established these Implementation Rules to effectively administer the studies of our international students in the language classes.

1. New students should hold a valid visa and Admission Letter issued by WYU to handle enrolment procedures on time. Those who cannot register on time should ask for leave three days before school starts, and the leave period should not exceed two weeks in principle.

2. After arrival, new students must go to the Jiangmen International Travel Health Care Center for a medical examination in a timely manner. Those who fail the medical examination will not be registered. Those who do not meet the health standards stipulated by the Chinese Health Quarantine Law should leave the country immediately, and all expenses will be borne by themselves.

3. At the beginning of each semester, other enrolled students must handle registration procedures at the school within the specified time (registration time is subject to the university's starting notice). Those who cannot register on time must go through leave procedures three days before the starting date, otherwise, they will be treated as absent.

4. New students should pay tuition fees on the day of registration, other enrolled students should pay tuition fees within one week before the start of each semester. Those who do not pay on time will not be registered and their enrolment will be canceled.

5. Attendance and Discipline

a. Enrolled students should participate in teaching activities as stipulated. All teaching activities implement an attendance system. Those who cannot participate in teaching activities for any reason must ask for leave from the School of International Education. The total leave per semester should not exceed two weeks in principle. Anyone who does not ask for leave or exceeds the permitted leave duration will be treated as absent. Those who are absent without asking for leave for more than 70 teaching hours (including 70 teaching hours) per semester will be treated as dropping out and will not be issued any study certificate.

b. Students who ask for leave due to illness, returning to their home country, travelling out, etc., must fill in the "Leave Permit for International Students in Language Studies". Students who ask for leave for three days or less need to be approved by the school's language class management personnel; Students who ask for leave for four days or more but less than a week need to be approved by the school's deputy dean in charge of teaching. Students who ask for leave for more than a week but less than two weeks need to be approved by the school dean. After being granted leave, students should inform their class teacher in a timely manner.

c. Students should abide by classroom discipline in class, respect teachers and other students, and must not disrupt the teaching order.

6. Students should participate in course assessments within the scheduled time, and assessment results will be included in their personal files. Those who miss the exam without authorization or cheat in the exam will have a score of zero for that course. Students who cannot take the exam on time for any reason should apply for a deferral to the school two days before the final assessment, and only after the school's approval can they take a deferred exam. Students who cheat or assist in cheating or violate other examination disciplines will have their course scores canceled.

7. Students who complete the courses stipulated in the teaching plan for the semester and pass the assessment will be allowed to advance to the next class. Those who fail more than 50% of the subjects will not be allowed to advance.

8. Students who complete all the courses stipulated in the teaching plan and pass the assessment will be issued a completion certificate.

9. After completing their studies, students must go to the School of International Education to handle the relevant procedures one week before leaving school. Students who leave school without handling the procedures will not be issued their completion certificates or academic transcripts.

10. Before course starts, new students must participate in the class placement test (students who are at beginner’s level are excluded) before they can enter the corresponding class to study. If a class transfer is needed, it must be applied for within two weeks after the start of the course, and the "Class Transfer Application for International Students in Language Studies" must be filled out and approved by the school before the transfer can be made.

11. International students must purchase Insurance for International Students in China in accordance with national regulations and school requirements. Those who do not insure or delay insuring will be treated as dropping out and will not be issued any study certificate.

12. These rules apply to the international students studying in the language class of our school, and the rules will be implemented from the date of publication, with the right to interpret belonging to the School of International Education.
