To assist new international students in better understanding China, becoming familiar with Wuyi University, and integrating into university life, the university organized a series of orientation activities for international students from September 2 to 6. . The content covered five modules: national conditions, university and college situation studies, talent cultivation plan interpretation, rules and regulations learning, safety education theme, and campus field visits.
On the morning of September 3, President Zhang Yunhua delivered the first lesson for international students titled "Crossing Mountains and Seas, Joining Hands for the Future." During the class, he introduced the development history and educational characteristics of Wuyi University, emphasized the university's proactive service to the country's major development strategies, established the Pacific Island Countries Research Institute to support the construction of the China-Pacific Island Countries Center for Disaster Risk Reduction Cooperation, and highlighted the cooperation and exchange with Pacific Island countries. He pointed out that the university, based on talent cultivation, recruits international students in emergency communication and emergency command majors to cultivate professional talent in disaster management for Pacific Island countries. He hopes that international students will gain from learning and attain accomplishment in learning in China and at Wuyi University, use their professional knowledge and skills to help their own countries improve disaster prevention and reduction capabilities, better respond to various natural disasters and risk challenges, and at the same time, build more bridges of friendship and contribute youthful strength to promote cooperation and exchange between China and Pacific Island countries.
