The Communication Engineering major in WYUis a national first-class undergraduate program construction point, a Guangdong Province famous specialty, and a Guangdong Province characteristic specialty construction point. The school housing the major has a first-level master's degree program in Information and Communication Engineering, as well as a master's degree program in Electronic Information.

Since the beginning of 2016, the major has undergone engineering education reform based on the OBE (Outcomes-Based Education) concept, forming a characteristic training system in line with the new engineering construction philosophy. It has also established a comprehensive, three-dimensional innovation and entrepreneurship education ecosystem, achieving significant results in innovative talent cultivation, and becoming one of the first majors at Wuyi University to implement the "Professional Quality Enhancement Project." The major encourages students to participate in international exchange and cooperation programs to broaden their international horizons and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills.

The major boasts a strong faculty, with 18 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 3 doctoral supervisors, and 11 doctors. It also has a Guangdong Province teaching team for talent cultivation throughout the information lifecycle.
