The University of Portsmouth (UoP), located in Portsmouth, UK, evolved from the Gosport Grammar School, which was established in 1869, and began awarding bachelor's degrees in 1900. Since transitioning to a comprehensive university in 1992, it has become one of the larger universities in the UK and is one of the institutions recognized under the UK-China academic certificate mutual recognition agreement. The university has over 31,000 students, including more than 5,200 international students from over 150 countries and regions.

According to the Times Good University Guide, the University of Portsmouth is ranked the 5th best modern university in the UK, reflecting its excellence in teaching quality and academic research.

The university has three main campuses connected by a minibus service for easy student travel. The library is well-stocked with over 600,000 books and 3,300 current periodicals, and is equipped with fully computerized facilities. The computer center provides access to major international internet services to support the research and learning needs of students and staff. Additionally, the university has subject-specific resource centers and a language center, offering a variety of learning resources for students.
