The University of Wollongong (UOW), established in 1951, is located in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It is a significant member of the Universitas 21, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. UOW is a public comprehensive university focusing on education, engineering, technology, business, and natural sciences, and it is an AACSB-accredited business school. As of 2023, the university has enrolled over 33,000 students, has an alumni network exceeding 176,000, and employs more than 2,400 staff members, including 16 distinguished professors. Its Information Technology, Computer Science, and Engineering disciplines represent the top level in Australia. The university's School of Computer Science is one of Australia's largest ICT research centers and one of the largest information technology and telecommunications research institutions in the Southern Hemisphere. UOW is renowned for its excellence in Information Technology and Computer Science, which are often considered to represent the pinnacle of Australian standards. Its Faculty of Engineering is a member of the Group of Eight, representing the highest level of engineering education and research in Australia. The university comprises six faculties, including Business, Science, Medicine and Health, Engineering and Information Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, and Humanities and the Arts. These faculties offer a broad range of courses from undergraduate to doctoral levels, meeting the diverse educational needs of students.
In order to further expand its international perspective, UOW established a branch campus in Dubai, UAE, in 1993, becoming the first foreign university in the country. Additionally, the university has cooperative programs in other countries. Besides academic achievements, the campus environment of UOW is also a highlight. The main campus is located in Wollongong, adjacent to picturesque national parks, providing a pleasant environment conducive to learning and living.
