1998, WYU has continuous support from the overseas Chinese:
for 4 years, they have donated 36,230,000 HK$.

Since
1998, 8 more buildings have been constructed with the contribution
(about 22,100,000HK$) from overseas Chinese.
WYU
continues to receive books collected or donated by overseas
Chinese, and has built a fully-quipped modern Information
Library.
Loan Funds set up by the overseas Chinese to WYU has reached
4,000,000 HK$. And all kinds of scholarship to outstanding
students and awards to faculty members are up to 2,360,000
HK$.
Ever
since the founding of WYU, the University has established
relations with 128 overseas Chinese communities from 17 countries
and has hosted over 30,000 overseas Chinese.

For four years since 1998, the university has organized and
accorded a cordial reception to 110 overseas Chinese youth
in 5 groups for summer or winter overseas camps from Indonesia,
Philippine, Australia and New Zealand.
The
university attaches much importance to the study of Overseas
Chinese History and Native Hometown of Overseas Chinese. Now
WYU has obtained 3 lengthwise research projects and 4 cross-wise
research projects at provincial level. And has scored great
success: 3 monographs published and over 20 academic theses
published in provincial magazines. WYU has done a lot in making
preparations for setting up of WUYI overseas Chinese Museum
and applying for the world cultural legacy for Fortresses(
or Watchtowers) in Kaiping City.
In
the study of Hong Kong literature and Macao Literature, WYU
professors have published several monographs in over 1,600,000
words, which does credit to the valuable historical materials
of Hong Kong &Macao Literature.
WYU
also helps overseas Chinese born abroad to find their roots
in China or helps them solve problems?in publishing their
books with hearted-felt service.
World-famous
Chinese scholars from abroad, Hong Kong and Macao have delivered
over 30 courses of lectures in WYU.
