WHY WUYI U. IS THE BEST PLACE TO WORK AS A TEACHER.

I have been working now as a teacher at Wuyi University for

three and a half years At the end of this semester I will

have completed four years of a very satisfying time here.

The University is situated in the heart of Jiangmen City.

The city is continually making efforts to beautify itself.

The old is slowly giving way to the new.  The streets are

being widened, and modern buildings are growing  in orderly

fashion, with an accent on showing the beauty of flowers in

                    the various parks.

The University as well is continually being updated with the

same eagerness.  The campus is large having lots of free

areas.  There are ten large buildings scattered among tree

lined avenues and 5 man made lakes.  There is even a river

flowing through the property with two small bridges that

give access to either side of the river.  The rest of the

buildings are used for the apartments for the teachers and

their families and for the dormitories of the students.

The apartments of the foreign teachers are quite adequate.

                    I have a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom

all of which are very spacious.  These are provided by the

University as part of our salary.  We also receive a salary

which enables us to pay any living expenses we might incur

plus a small amount for our savings.  All our appliances are

provided to us by the university also.

Our Foreign Affairs Office staff provides us with any help

we may need.  It is comforting to know that they can be

depended upon in any circumstance and at any time.

The teachers and the students are the real plus in our lives

as teachers.  In our case, we are foreign English teachers

who are not versed in the Chinese language.  Everyone is

very willing to help us out.  The students are interested in

learning how to speak English so we are kept quite busy

providing them with opportunities to speak the language and

to learn our customs.  This makes being a teacher here very

                    satisfying.  I’m glad I’m here.
