International Cooperation & Exchange

WUYI University attaches much importance to overseas exchanges and cooperation and has achieved a great deal ever since the founding of the University. The overseas exchanges and cooperation have not only promoted the development of WYU, but also filled the campus with multi-cultural atmosphere. Through cooperation exchanges we aspires to raise continuously our level of running school. Especially during these years, WYU has made great strides in the international cooperation and exchanges. By the end of July, 2002, the university has established intercollegiate cooperative relations with more than 21 universities and institutes of  9 countries in the world. Every year the university invites 10-odd foreign experts and scholars to the university for long-term lectures, academic exchanges and joint researches. Till now, over 1000 foreign students and scholars of 50 groups have been here performing all kinds of academic and cultural activities. Many world-renowned scholars have been conferred upon the titles of Honorary Professor,Advisory professor, or Honorary Ph. D. Having been approved to be one of the first schools to accept foreign students in 1993, altogether more than 300 long-term international students coming from 12 countries and regions have studied here. Since the founding of WYU, the university has sent over 500 faculty members abroad for advanced training, academic visits and participation of international conferences or seminars, and since 1998 WYU has sent 17 students for the exchange program or advanced learning or study on the long-term or short-term basis at their own expenses. Through various exchange programs, the foreign teachers and students have promoted their understanding of Chinese culture and enhanced the friendship with Chinese people; the faculty members of WYU have also obtained the opportunity to broaden their outlook and to know more about the world.  Our active international exchanges and cooperation have left deep impression on American and British Consulates General in Guangzhou, China. The person in charge of the culture office of American Consul once said, WYU is one of  the most active universities in  overseas  exchanges.
